Picture is a gift basket from a dear friend who was my customer first then became a friend!

I have been trying hard to keep my private life out of blog and any social media.
I was afraid of all the horror stories of internet and didn't want to expose myself and my loved ones in any way.
I don't like talking about myself.
I really don't even know how much is ok to share.
I envied and still envy those whose wit and writing can charm anyone and everyone because it is invaluable gift for us jewelry designers.
Selling jewelry is different than selling soap.
We are selling items that are not necessity so we have to speak to evoke desire rather than explain the functionality of it.
And so many can make you drool by reading their description.
By nature, I can't play words like that. Even I have very high pride over my pieces, I still can't speak highly of them.
Because it should be judged by clients not by me in my mind.
I have very devoted clients and I was happy with the way things were.
Then Social Media boom changed everything for me.
I resisted and resisted as long as I could.
I opened twitter, facebook and many other sites because other designers invited me to join their net work.
But, I neglected most of them and kept minimal interaction on facebook and twitter. As many of you know, twitter is a perfect tool to spam with links back to our own little shops.
And I had few 'rich and famous' following and promoting me on twitter.
But, recently I wanted to make a conscious choice between dropping all social media and focus my time on doing what I love the most which is making jewelry or learn and utilize all these social media to boost my business.
Few days ago, I deleted my twitter account by accident and I felt free.
I can start fresh. I haven't decided which way to go yet. But, it will be more educated choice this time.
And I will use my blog to talk about myself because I like to show you how and where I get my inspirations from.
So my blog will be more personal from now on and I will be writing little more about me.
And SkyDreams Fan page will be where I share business news.
To twit or not to twit is my homework and I need to educate me on this one.

Cincinnati Art Museum is carrying my jewelry!~

The buyer of Cincinnati art Museum emailed me to ask if I would be interested in showing my designs.
OF COURSE! I said and now about 50pcs of my jewelry is in the gift shop and we will do events together starting Apr,23 - Apr, 25. The event is 'Garden Party' and post card they send out to 8000members will have picture of my designs.
I am very honored and excited to be a part of such prestigious museum!~
And I have to say how nice everyone was! They have my utmost gratitude! Needless to say, it was a dream come true for me!

Picture shows some designs I am working on and I will be busy to do custom orders by them for a while. As soon as that is done, I will make some new pieces for my shops!

SNOWED IN!

We are snowed in and all is white.
George said that snowbanks on highway were taller than his car.
Pictures are from first day of snow and since then we had many more.
